Earnestly Contend for the Faith
(By: Chuck Edwards)
Where does it say in the Bible you must speak in tongues to have the Holy Ghost?
Scripture reference: Acts 2, Acts 10:44-47, Acts 19:6, and I Corinthians 12-14.
1)
1. (Isa 28:11) For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people. 12 To whom he said, This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear.
2. In (Acts 2:4) he “the Spirit gave them utterance”(Acts 2:4)"And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance."
3. (Act 3:19) Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord;
4. (Mr 16:16) He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. 17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;
5. (Mt 11:28) Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. The rest is the refreshing as seen in (Isa 28:11).
6. (1 Corinthians 14:14) For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful.
7. (Ro 8:14) For as many as are led (Led is also translated to bring forth induce as in being born) by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
8. 15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.(Every new born child of God will cry out)
9. (Joh 3:8) The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit. Being blinded by the Light, felling God etc… is not being born of the Spirit. There will be a sound that accompanies every one that is born of the Spirit.
10. (1Co 14:5) “I would that ye all spake with tongues,”
11. Accompanying the giving of the Law “there were thunders and lightnings, and a thick cloud upon the mount, and the voice of the trumpet exceeding loud; so that all the people that was in the camp trembled.”(Exodus 19:16-19)
i) Accompanying the giving of Grace was “a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. 3 And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. “(Acts 2:2-4)
ii) Elijah new the Lord by the still small voice. “And he said, Go forth, and stand upon the mount before the LORD. And, behold, the LORD passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the LORD; but the LORD was not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; but the LORD was not in the earthquake: 12 And after the earthquake a fire; but the LORD was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice.”(1Ki 19:11-12)
